There is an hourly bus service which passes Baileyfield to Ardentiny in one direction and Dunoon in the other. There are lots of great places to see and visit from Baileyfield. Here are just some.
The Blairmore and The Blairmore More (takeaway)
Only a mile and within walking distance is the Blairmore Bistro and coffee shop which is also licensed. Here freshly prepared breakfast menu and in the afternoon a delicious variety of warm and cold lunches is served. Dogs are welcome.

Only 200m from the house a lovely local cafe with home baking and freshly made coffees and teas (including cappuccino). Lunch options available.
The Strone Inn - Restaurant, Bar and Pub
Just 300 metres from Baileyfield is the local pub which serves hot meals at the weekends. Pets welcome
Quadmania
Quadmania is only 3 miles from Baileyfield. Here you can experience quad biking, archery and clay Pigeon shooting.
Benmore Gardens
Benmore is 120 acres of garden with over 300 species of rhododendron and over one third of the world’s hardy conifer species. The entrance is stunning with an avenue of Giant Redwood Trees. Walks throughout the Garden lead to beautiful spots such as the restored Victorian Fernery, the Formal Garden with its distinctive Puck’s Hut and hillside woodlands leading to a dramatic viewpoint at 450 feet (140m) overlooking the surrounding mountains and Holy Loch.
Puck’s Glen
This iconic path was made by the Victorians and leads up the side of a tumbling stream. A stunning walk not to be missed. Start at the bridge and as you climb up the path there are numerous waterfalls and along the banks, mosses and ferns are growing in this temperate rain forest.

Ardentinny Beach and Forest Walks
Picnic beside Ardentinny Beach, one of Cowal's longest sandy beach and explore Ardentinny's network of interesting trails, including one suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. You can walk or cycle all the way to Carrick Castle on Loch Goil.
As part of the Argyll Forest Park, there are some lovely easy walking and cycling trails, some which are also suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.

Riverside Swimming Pool and Queen’s Hall Fitness Centre
In Dunoon, about 8 miles by bus or car there is the Riverside Swimming pool with 25 meter and children’s pool. At the Queens Hall there is a modern gym for those who like to keep fit
A drive to the Isle of Bute
The ferry from Colintraive takes you over to the Isle of Bute. The journey only takes 5 minutes across the Bute Narrows.
Mount Stuart
Mount Stuart, situated on the Isle of Bute, is easily accessible via the Colintraive Ferry. This magnificent house was rebuilt by the Marquis of Bute at the turn of the 20th century and is a unique example of neo-gothic mansion. There are tours of the house available but booking is advisable. There are many walks around the grounds of the house.
Ettrick Bay
Ettrick Bay on the west coast of Bute is a beautiful sandy beach looking over to Arran. There is a friendly café with good parking facilities.
A drive to Inveraray
On the way you can stop at Fyne Ales Brewery (brewery tours, café and shop) and next door is Loch Fyne Oysters and the Tree Shop (restaurant, café and delicatessen).
Inverary Castle and Gardens
The castle has been the seat of the Clan Campbell since early 15th century and was re-built in the 18th century. This was the backdrop for a Christmas edition of the TV Downtown Abbey. Guided tours and walks round the gardens and surrounding area can be enjoyed.
Inveraray Jail - Inveraray
Located in the heart of Inveraray is the jail. Step back in time and face the judge in the courtroom, meet the Warders, get locked up, join the Prisoners, try out the cells and sample the punishments!
Wreckspeditions
Wreckspeditions is based at the Holy Loch Marina and can organise trips in their high speed rib. They specialise in Scuba Diving to see the underwater life and wrecks of the Clyde Estuary.
